Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang drew another blank for Arsenal on Sunday.

The Gunners hitman managed only 21 touches in 90 minutes as Mikel Arteta’s side went down 2-0 away to North London rivals Tottenham.

Aubameyang, who had 54 goals in two-and-a-half Premier League seasons before this one, has only found the net on two occasions so far this time around – one of which was a penalty.

For a man who scored all four of Arsenal’s goals in their semi-final and final wins over Manchester City and Chelsea en route to FA Cup glory last term, this is quite a funk for the 31-year-old marksman.

But former Premier League hitman Clinton Morrison is confident that the Gabon international will find his shooting boots again, claiming that once he breaks the duck, the floodgates will open for him.

He said to BBC Radio 5 Live after Sunday’s defeat: “Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is just short on confidence at the moment, most definitely. He needs a goal desperately and once he gets one they’ll start coming back like buses.”

Is Morrison right? Well, probably.

After all, form is temporary and class is permanent – and Aubameyang certainly has an abundance of the latter.

Question is, when will he hit form again?

Arsenal are 15th in the Premier League table and probably one more defeat away from potentially finding themselves in a relegation battle by the festive period.

Arteta’s side are only seven points off the bottom three but, by the same token, they’re eight points behind fourth-placed Leicester City.

But at the moment, they’re falling, not climbing.
