Robert Earnshaw has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur’s ‘unbelievable’ addition of Gareth Bale gives them a star-studded attacking trident no less frightening than Liverpool’s.
Spurs pulled off a huge coup last weekend by announcing a deal to re-sign the Real Madrid attacker on a season-long loan.
In theory, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho could have one hell of a front-three when Bale is fit enough to start playing alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
Liverpool trio Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah make up arguably the most potent triumvirate in Europe.
And Earnshaw has told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport that the North Londoners’ equivalent on par with Jurgen Klopp’s attackers.
He said: “I can’t say there’s a team with a better front-three in the Premier League. The Tottenham front-three is as good as the Liverpool front-three. Bale is unbelievable. Let’s remember what he’s done and how good he’s been. He can do everything.”
Is Earnshaw right? Well, on paper there’s no denying that a trio of Bale, Son and Kane could score a hell of a lot of goals.
But this Liverpool attack has played alongside one another for three years and has won Champions League and Premier League titles.
In terms of pedigree, Klopp’s version is undeniably stronger and although Tottenham’s equivalent could be monstrous, for now let’s wait and see.
