Mark Lawrenson is expecting Carlo Ancelotti to have a clear out at Everton this summer, according to his column on BBC Sport.
Everton’s form has been dire over recent weeks, with their performances not giving much reason for optimism.
Everton’s players have been criticised for showing a lack of commitment and failing to create many chances.
The Toffees have now failed to win on any of their last three outings, and they were battered 3-0 by Wolves at the weekend.
Carlo Ancelotti was clearly fuming with his side after their latest defeat and Lawrenson believes that many of Everton’s players could now leave in the summer.
“Everton looked as though they were on the beach already, but Carlo Ancelotti tore into them afterwards and, it feels as if we will see a reaction here,” he said, ahead of Everton’s match with Aston Villa on Thursday.
“I think quite a few people in this Everton team will be elsewhere next season, though.
“I think Ancelotti has already made his mind up about a number of his players, and decided whether they are what he wants or not.”
If Ancelotti is to have a clear out at Everton one of the first areas he will want to improve is surely in midfield.
The Toffees have looked particularly weak in that area this term, with the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Fabian Delph and Morgan Schneiderlin all failing to make much of an impact.
