Newcastle United beat Stoke City 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Pundit Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that he thinks the Newcastle United bubble will burst soon enough, and manager Rafael Benitez must be given funds to spend in January.
The Magpies opened their campaign with two defeats at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur and Huddersfield Town, whilst a Carabao Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest also concerned fans last month.
However, Newcastle have now won their last three games, having beaten West Ham United 3-0 at St. James’ Park before the international break, and then won 1-0 at Swansea City last weekend.
The third win came on Saturday afternoon, as Newcastle beat Stoke 2-1 at St. James’ Park, with Jamaal Lascelles powering home the winner after Xherdan Shaqiri had cancelled out Christian Atsu’s opener.
After such a poor start in the first two games, Newcastle have now shot up to fourth in the Premier League table, occupying a Champions League spot whilst sitting just four points off top spot.
Whilst a title challenge isn’t exactly Newcastle’s target this season, fans are optimistic about the future under Benitez – but one pundit has a huge warning for the Magpies.
Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that Newcastle’s current form is ‘heroic stuff’, but he is predicting that the Magpies will run out of gas and their bubble will burst soon enough, in a view that few Newcastle fans will share.
Crooks added that it’s vital that Benitez receives more money to spend in January on boosting his squad, as he still needs more new faces despite the strong run of form right now.
“This is heroic stuff from these Newcastle lads but be sure they will soon run out of gas. It is imperative that Rafa Benitez is allowed to continue developing this team in January because this bubble will burst.
