BBC pundit makes a confident prediction about Tottenham v West Brom, comments on Megson

Tottenham Hotspur host West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League this weekend.

Pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur will beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0 at Wembley Stadium this afternoon.

Spurs were disappointing last weekend as they lost 2-0 at Arsenal in the North London derby, but bounced back well with a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday afternoon.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men do sit 11 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City though, and need to get back to winning ways in the Premier League this afternoon to stand any chance of challenging for the title.

They may just have the ideal opponents today, as they take on West Bromwich Albion at Wembley Stadium, just days after the Baggies sacked manager Tony Pulis.

Pulis, 59, has lost his job after almost three years in the job, with the Baggies deciding to make a change after Saturday’s 4-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea – meaning West Brom had won just twice in their last 21 Premier League games under Pulis.

With owner Guochuan Lai deciding it was time for change, former Baggies boss Gary Megson will take caretaker charge of today’s game, in the hope of springing a surprise at Wembley Stadium.

Ahead of the game, pundit Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Sport that he doesn’t think Megson will look to change too much of West Brom’s style from their approach under Pulis – despite poor results this season.

Lawrenson added that he thinks Tottenham will pick up a ‘pretty comfortable’ win over West Brom, predicting a 2-0 win after their response against Borussia Dortmund in midweek.

“If he is still in charge, I am not expecting West Brom caretaker manager Gary Megson to try to change much about the Baggies’ style of play following Tony Pulis’ departure,” said Lawrenson. “Tottenham bounced back from the disappointment of their derby defeat by Arsenal by beating Borussia Dortmund, and I think they will win this one pretty comfortably too,” he added.
