BBC pundit makes a confident prediction about Leeds

Noel Whelan was not pleased with Leeds United’s performance against Watford in the FA Cup at the weekend.

Noel Whelan has told BBC Sport that even a 25-goal striker would struggle to score goals for the current Leeds United side.

The former Leeds striker made the prediction following the West Yorkshire outfit’s narrow defeat to Watford in the FA Cup at the weekend.

The Whites went down 1-0 to the Premier League side at Vicarage Road in the fifth round of the prestigious cup competition.

Whelan was following the match, and he was not impressed with the lack of creativity in the Leeds team.

“You could have a 25 goal scorer out there now and I can guarantee if you don’t give him good service, he doesn’t score,” Whelan told BBC Sport (17:19).

“It’s about creating chances and you can’t put it down to one striker. It’s down to midfielders and wingers not chipping in. I just don’t see any way the midfielders are going to score.”

Watford are in the Premier League, which means that they are a superior team to Leeds.

Winning against the Hornets was always going to be tough for the Whites, who took six shots of which just one was on target.

Steve Evans’s side are in the bottom half of the Championship table at the moment, and their season appears to be over.

Leeds have created 250 chances in 31 league matches so far this campaign – that’s just over eight chances per game.
