England defeated Malta 2-0 at Wembley on Saturday with Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson starring.

Former player and current pundit Chris Waddle has lavished praise on Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson as he shone during England’s 2-0 win over Malta, the BBC report.
The former Sunderland midfielder almost missed out on a place at the European Championships due to injury, but he came through and played in the 0-0 draw with Slovakia.
He was one of a number of players criticised for labouring through England’s final match, but since the start of the season he has been in superb form for Liverpool and justified his spot against Malta.

Henderson started the encounter and ran the first half for the Three Lions, taking more touches than any other player on the pitch and setting up Daniel Sturridge’s opener with a superb cross.
Co-commentating for the BBC, Waddle highlighted how the Reds skipper’s place in the England side is often questioned but insisted that he was on form at Wembley, regardless of the quality of the opposition.
“People always talk about Jordan Henderson but today he has been excellent. You have to question the opposition but the quality of his passing and crossing has been excellent,” Waddle explained.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli grabbed another England goal just before half-time, and the second period played out like a training session with the visitors happy to sit back and keep the scoreline down.
Interim boss Gareth Southgate will be satisfied with the application from his players, and for Henderson he has done his chances of maintaining a first-team spot no harm at all.
