Garth Crooks told BBC Sport that he is ‘convinced’ that Gini Wijnaldum will leave Liverpool for Barcelona next summer.
The 30-year-old midfielder is yet to agree on a new deal at Anfield and he is free to leave the Merseyside giants when his contract expires in less than 12 months time.
Over the weekend, Wijnaldum showcased to the world what he is capable of producing on his day when his curling effort from outside of the box helped Liverpool secure a 4-0 win over Wolves.
Crooks shared that the technically-gifted Dutchman was ‘at the heart’ of Liverpool’s comprehensive win, but he thinks he won’t be at the club next season.
“Spurs might be top of the table but if they think Liverpool are going to hand them the title without one hell of a fight, they can think again,” said Crooks.
“The champions were formidable against Wolves and Georginio Wijnaldum was once again at the heart of the victory. His goal, his first of the season, was fabulous and his performance impeccable.
“The Dutch international’s contract runs out at the end of the season and I am convinced he’s destined for Barcelona. In the meantime, he’s going nowhere.”

Wijnaldum is a pretty popular player amongst the Liverpool supporters, and an individual, he perhaps hasn’t received the praise he deserves.
Liverpool have dominated on their own shores in recent years and in Europe, with that midfield containing Wijnaldum being near-on difficult to stop.
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool replace Wijnaldum in the transfer market if he leaves or if they push someone like Curtis Jones further forward given his recent rise.
