Leeds United won against Derby County in the Championship on Friday evening.

Noel Whelan has suggested to BBC Sport (21:46) that he was impressed with the performance of Souleymane Doukara for Leeds United against Derby County on Friday evening.

Doukara featured for Leeds in the Championship match against Derby at Elland Road.

The 25-year-old, who can operate as a striker or as a winger, started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes.

Leeds got the better of Derby 1-0, thanks to Chris Wood’s goal on the stroke of half time.

Former Leeds striker Whelan was following the match, and he was impressed with the performance of Doukara.

“That kind of performance has been coming for a while – some of the Derby players were twisted inside out by Doukara, Hernandez and Roofe,” Whelan told BBC Sport (21:46).

“We must be seeing the best of Doukara right now because I’ve never seen him so fit, so hungry and so tricky.”

Leeds were superb against Derby and deservedly picked up all three points from the encounter.

Doukara has been playing well for the Whites in recent weeks, and his display against the Rams was encouraging.

The West Yorkshire outfit are third in the Championship table at the moment with 48 points from 26 matches, six points behind second-placed Brighton & Hove Albion, who have a game in hand.

Leeds will return to action next weekend when they take on Barnsley away from home at Oakwell in the Championship.
