The Tottenham Hotspur star endured a difficult afternoon against Liverpool.
When writing his regular column for BBC Sport, former Arsenal ace Martin Keown offered high words of praise for Spurs’ defence, but delivered a word of caution, highlighting Serge Aurier as a potential weak-link for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Tottenham were at their scintillating best against Liverpool yesterday, eventually running out 4-1 winners, and they look every inch the title contenders this season, as they sit just five points adrift of Manchester City at the Premier League summit.
The north London outfit currently possess the third best defensive record in the top flight, with their back-line proving to be the cornerstone of everything good that they do.
Keown though, singled out one Spurs player who wasn’t quite up to scratch during the game against the Reds yesterday, when writing his regular column for BBC Sport:
“The Spurs defence gives them a platform and has helped them to challenge for the title in the past two seasons. They are not flawless – against Liverpool, Serge Aurier was second-best a lot of the time against Mohamed Salah down Tottenham’s left.”

Pochettino paid £23 million to bring the 24-year-old to Tottenham in the summer, and he has began his career in north London in mixed fashion.
The Ivory Coast international possesses undoubted potential, however, and after just six appearances for the Lilywhites thus far, it is way too early to judge him just yet.
