Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez needs to add some real quality to his squad this month.

Ian Wright was a guest on BBC’s Match of the Day programme on Saturday January 13th, and delivered his verdict on the Magpies, suggesting that they desperately need to sign a striker this month.
Newcastle currently sit precariously in 14th position in the Premier League table, just three points clear of the drop zone, and their lack of goals is now becoming a genuine concern.
Their tally of 21 league goals scored is the fifth worst in the division, and the addition of an established forward this month surly features highly on Rafa Benitez’s wish-list.

Whether the Spaniard will receive the required financial backing during the transfer window remains to be seen, however, what with Mike Ashley actively looking to sell the club.
Wright highlighted the Toon’s need for another striker, when speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day programme last night, suggesting that they are desperate for more goals:

“Newcastle are desperate for a striker. Without doubt Newcastle need to sign a striker, they are desperate for a striker, they do need to score some goals.”
Newcastle have been linked with moves for plenty of strikers already, but with the club facing such an uncertain future with regards to their ownership, it will be difficult for Rafa to attract top level players to St James’ Park this month.
And if the Magpies fail to add an established forward to their ranks this month, they could be in real trouble.
