Alan Shearer has jokingly said that he would like Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe to join Newcastle United, as quoted in Goal.com.

The Newcastle legend, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, made the comments while discussing the quality and talent of the France international.

Shearer said that he would love for the 21-year-old to move to a club in the Premier League, and jokingly said that he would like him to join the Magpies.

Shearer said on Canal+, as transcribed by Goal.com: “I would very much like Kylian Mbappe to come.

“With his skill, the confidence he has in someone so young, and all the goals he scores, that would be a big plus for the Premier League.”

The Englishman jokingly said who asked he would want Mbappe to sign for: “I only see one club for him, it’s Newcastle of course.”

World-class footballer

Mbappe is one of the best players in the world, and given that he is only 21 years of age, he could take over from Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the coming years.

The France international is a serial winner as well, having won Ligue 1 title once with AS Monaco and the championship thrice with PSG, and the World Cup in 2018.

Unlikely Newcastle United transfer

While Newcastle are a big club and are well established in the Premier League, it is hard to see Mbappe – who earns £300,000 per week as salary at PSG, according to The Sun – move to Newcastle anytime soon.

True, the Magpies could be very appealing once the takeover by Saudi Arabia’s PIF goes through, as reported by The Times, but it is very unlikely that they will reach the stature of PSG, Real Madrid or Barcelona in the next two or three years.
