Garth Crooks spoke highly of Alisson Becker and claimed that the Liverpool goalkeeper ‘hasn’t put a foot wrong’ since the club lifted the Premier League title in June, as he told BBC Sport.
Alisson is widely regarded as the best keeper in England’s top-flight and perhaps Europe, with his performances in recent years resulting in Liverpool winning the Champions League and Premier League.
Whilst the £67 million signing [Sky Sports] doesn’t need to make save after save because of the dominant side he plays in, he has brought a sense of calmness, clinical nature and ruthlessness in between the sticks.
Former Spurs striker Crooks named the Brazil international in his Team of the Year ahead of his fellow countryman Ederson and Burnley’s Nick Pope.
“The Liverpool keeper hasn’t put a foot wrong since he lifted the title at the end of last season, and with it the Golden Glove award for the most clean sheets,” said Crooks.
“I would like to have picked Burnley’s Nick Pope – he’s had an impressive year – but until he joins a club that is challenging for honours I can’t see him having the same impact as the likes of Alisson, Manchester City’s Ederson and Manchester United’s David de Gea I’m afraid.”

The two previous men who wore the gloves for Liverpool – Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius – simply weren’t going to be the difference-makers in pushing the Merseyside club towards the title.
They were too error-prone and the Liverpool defence simply couldn’t rely upon them because of their ability to unnerve their teammates and those in the stadium at any given moment.
But whilst many talk about the difference a certain Virgil van Dijk has made at the heart of Liverpool’s defence, he has had someone to match him in regards to how he has taken the club to the next level.
