Ashley Williams has said that Arsenal central defender William Saliba looked “frustrated” during the match against Southampton at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the Premier League on Friday evening.

The former Everton defender has said on Match of the Day on BBC One that Saliba did not look happy while watching the match between his team Arsenal against relegation candidates Southampton.

The £27 million (Sky Sports) defender is on the sidelines at the moment due to injury.

The 22-year-old centre-back may not play again this season.

HITC Verdict: Big miss for the Gunners

In our view, William Saliba is a big miss for Arsenal at the moment.

That the Gunners are dropping points and conceding goals in the absence of Saliba is no coincidence at all.

Gabriel and Saliba have been superb as a central defensive partnership all season.

Arsenal fans will hope that the 22-year-old recovers full fitness soon.

Now, the Gunners are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment, but they will face defending champions and second-placed Manchester City next.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal are able to cope with the likes of Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne without Saliba.
