BBC pundit Garth Crooks comments on Everton’s form, claims two-big name players have gone off the boil

Pundit Garth Crooks has told BBC Sport that he thinks Everton are going through a ‘sticky time’ – and feels that both Yannick Bolasie and Romelu Lukaku have gone off the boil.

The Toffees hosted struggling Swansea City at Goodison Park this afternoon, and fell behind when Phil Jagielka brought down Gylfi Sigurdsson inside the penalty area, with the Iceland international stepping up to score.

Everton toiled away looking for the equaliser, boasting 62% of possession and 14 shots on goal, but had to wait until the 89^th to get back on level tears, as Seamus Coleman equalised to earn a point.

Manager Ronald Koeman will be far from pleased with how his side performed, and this feels like a missed opportunity given that Swansea sit bottom of the Premier League table.

Koeman will have hoped for his side to respond having lost 6-0 at Chelsea before the international break, but instead it’s another disappointing result, and now just one win in seven games for the Toffees.

Crooks also claimed that winger Yannick Bolasie and striker Romelu Lukaku have ‘gone off the boil’, and he wants to see if Everton can overcome this tricky spell.

“Everton are going through a sticky time,” said Crooks. “Can they get over this period? Bolasie and Lukaku have gone off the boil. Maybe the defeat at Chelsea has had a bigger effect than we thought,” he added.

In that seven-game run consisting of just one win, Bolasie has notched one goal and two assists, whilst striker Lukaku has grabbed three goals and two assists, suggesting that they’re still producing even if the team is struggling for wins.

Koeman may want more from both players as it’s two quiet games in a row for the duo, but their connection shown this season means that both should be back to top form in no time.
