Stephen Warnock told BBC Radio 5 Live that Demarai Gray was fuming with Everton teammate Nathan Patterson on Tuesday night during a moment in the second half of the Toffees’ 1-1 draw with Warnock’s old side Leeds United.
Anthony Gordon got his second goal in two games to give Everton the lead. Latching on to a neat pass that seemed to bamboozle Diego Llorente, Gordon slipped the ball under Illan Meslier to give the Toffees the lead in the first 45.
However, Leeds replied in the second half. It was through Luis Sinisterra, who scored his second goal for Leeds – and his first in the Premier League. Patterson had a real chance to put Everton back in front in the second half.
Controlling a pass, he blasted the ball straight at Meslier from about 12 yards out. But Gray was better positioned for a tap-in. Warnock, who was covering the game for BBC R5L, said Gray was not impressed with £16million Patterson.

“Patterson should have squared it to Demarai Gray, and Gray is letting him know about it. It would have been a simple tap in and Everton could have sealed three points,” Warnock reported, from Elland Road – as per BBC Live’s coverage.
Warnock: Gray fuming with Everton teammate Patterson
Everton are yet to pick up their first Premier League win of the season, drawing for the third time in five games. But had Patterson not allowed a rush of blood to the head, he could have changed that – by setting up Gray.
It would have given Everton the impetus. Something to defend, something to quieten the raucous Elland Road crowd. Going back in the lead after Leeds had equalised would have won the match. But Patterson went for glory.
Of course, there was a significant chance of scoring. But his shot was far too close to Meslier. Indeed, he should have done better but a more-experienced player would have found Gray. Everton would have five points, instead of three.
