The Black Cats are struggling in the Premier League once again.
Sunderland manager David Moyes
BBC pundit Dion Dublin has called on Sunderland to stand by their manager David Moyes – even if they are relegated to the Championship this season.
Sunderland picked up a fortunate point against West Brom today. The Black Cats played poorly but a goal from Patrick van Aanholt saw them fend off another loss.
Sunderland are struggling in the league yet again this season and many are suggesting that they will be changing managers midway through the season once again.
Sunderland’s Patrick van Aanholt celebrates scoring their first goal
It is a practice Sunderland fans have got used to, with the likes of Paolo Di Canio, Gus Poyet and Dick Advocaat all meeting a similar fate.
But Dublin believes that Moyes is the best man for the job at Sunderland – even if they do continue to struggle, telling BBC Final Score:
“I think David Moyes is a good manager. Has he got the tools to work with at the moment at Sunderland? Probably not. If you do go down you have to keep hold of him.
“Sunderland’s defence is like a sieve at the moment. They are just leaking goals, but they have been poor there for many years. You look at their games and wonder, where are they going to get points from?”
Sunderland manager David Moyes poses
Moyes has excellent experience in the Premier League with Everton and it is surely worth giving him as much time as possible at the Stadium of Light.
At the moment things look bad for Sunderland, but chopping and changing managers has not exactly paid off for the club so far in recent times.
Sticking by Moyes might just be the best course of action regardless for Sunderland.
