Danny Mills thinks Everton would take Wayne Rooney back – and noted that shirt sales would soar.
Pundit Danny Mills has told BBC Sport that he thinks Everton would happily take Manchester United attacker Wayne Rooney back to Goodison Park, if possible.
Rooney, 31, has struggled so far this season, scoring just once in 13 appearances for United, losing his place in Jose Mourinho’s first team in recent weeks.

Factor in that Rooney was also dropped by England for the recent international clash with Slovenia, and it’s been a dismal start to the new campaign for the veteran forward.
Some United fans believe that Rooney’s time at Old Trafford is coming to an end, but some have wondered just who would take Rooney given his advancing years and his huge wages.

One potential destination could be former club Everton, given that manager Ronald Koeman was quoted by Sky Sports as saying that he would love to take the attacker back to Goodison Park.
Rooney started his career with Everton, making his name with a stunning long range goal against Arsenal at the age of just 16, and scoring 17 goals in 77 games before joining United in 2004.
Everton remain close to Rooney’s heart, and with Koeman admitting he would be interested in offering Rooney a Goodison Park return should the opportunity arise, pundit Danny Mills has had his say on the situation.

Mills, who played alongside Rooney for England, told BBC Sport that he thinks Everton would take the attacker back ‘without a shadow of a doubt’, noting that the shirt sales from signing him would be huge.
“Without a shadow of a doubt,” said Mills. “He had that option to leave, he was very, very young, he had no choice but to go and further and develop his own career, and he’s done fantastically well. Of course they’d take him back, without a shadow of a doubt. They’d sell some shirts as well wouldn’t they? Another big bonus for taking Rooney back,” he added.
