Jermaine Jenas has been critical of Tottenham for not signing Paulo Dybala and Philippe Coutinho because he thinks they could have been ‘game-changers’.
The BBC Sport pundit also pointed out that Spurs opting to sign the likes of Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Jack Clarke last summer ‘hasn’t worked out’, as he told Football London.
Spurs were active during last summer’s transfer window, with Ndomebele being their big-money capture from France.
It could have been a lot different had other names, who had been touted to join the club signed instead, as Jenas touched on those players.
“They were linked with Paulo Dybala and Philippe Coutinho,” Jenas told Football London. “And they would have been game-changers for Tottenham if they could have got them over the line.
“Bruno Fernandes was linked with Tottenham for a period of time and it just shows you if you go the extra mile you will get it back if you do find the quality out there you are looking for.
“Spurs decided to play it a bit safer, but they spend money bringing in Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele, which has not worked out. Ryan Sessegnon, which also hasn’t worked out, and Jack Clarke.”

Dybala is still producing the magic for Juventus, who are on course to win the Serie A title and hoping to win the European Cup.
Meanwhile, Coutinho has had a tough time of it on-loan at Bayern Munich, but he did score and assist against Spurs in the Champions League.
As for Bruno Fernandes, he has transcended his form for Sporting Lisbon to Old Trafford, where Manchester United are now hoping he can help them to a Champions League finish.
