Stephen Warnock has told BBC Sport that Leeds United star Ezgjan Alioski made the most of the headbutt from Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe.
Pepe was sent off in the 51st minute of the Premier League game between Leeds and Arsenal at Elland Road on Sunday evening.
In an off-the-ball incident, the Ivory Coast international winger pushed his head towards Alioski, who went down to the ground holding his face.
The referee showed Pepe a direct red card, as the Gunners had to play for the rest of the match with just 10 men.
Former Leeds defender Warnock, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, believes that Pepe deservedly got sent off, but he has also said that Alioski, who can play as a winger or as a left-back, made the most of it.
Warnock told BBC Sport: “It was an incident off the ball. Pepe just pushes his head towards him and Alioski goes to ground and makes the most of it. He’s let his team-mates and manager down there.”
Disappointing from Nicolas Pepe
It was very disappointing from Pepe to headbutt Alioski, and there can be no argument regarding his sending-off.
Even if the 28-year-old North Macedonia international did make the most of the incident, Pepe should not have done what he did.
