Noel Whelan said on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds (broadcast from 6pm, September 2, 2016) that Eunan O’Kane is a good signing for Leeds United.

O’Kane joined Championship club Leeds from Premier League outfit Bournemouth on transfer deadline day.

The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international midfielder has arrived at Elland Road with a strong reputation.

The former Torquay United midfielder may not have been a hit in the Premier League, but he has a lot of experience of playing in the Championship.

Former Leeds striker Whelan believes that O’Kane is a good signing for the West Yorkshire outfit.

However, the former Coventry City and Derby County man has stated that Leeds should have signed a striker on transfer deadline day.

“He has come from a good pedigree there, hasn’t he, under Bournemouth, so another midfield player, good acquisition for Leeds, but at the same time, we needed strikers, and we have not managed to get one through the door, which worries me slightly,” said Whelan on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds (broadcast from 6pm, September 2, 2016).

Chris Wood and Marcus Antonsson are the main strikers for Leeds, while Kemar Roofe and Souleymane Doukara can operate in that position.

Leeds could promote someone from the youth team as the season progresses to add to their strike force.

Garry Monk’s side could have done with signing another striker in the summer transfer window, but perhaps the Leeds head coach believes that Wood and Antonsson will get the job done.
