Leeds United legend has his say on Ben White & Robin Koch

Leeds legend Lucas Radebe has raved to BBC Radio 5 Live (09/09/20 at 8:55 pm) at how ‘outstanding’ Ben White was for the club during their promotion campaign.

The former Elland Road hitman also touched upon new signing, Robin Koch, and believes his capture is ‘very important’ to Marcelo Bielsa.

After White’s loan spell in Yorkshire, many of the Leeds faithful wanted him to return to the club, but instead, he put pen-to-paper on a new contract at Brighton.

That was heartbreaking for the Leeds fans because White didn’t just build connections on the pitch, he built them off it as well, as Radebe commented on the ball-playing centre-back and Koch.

“I think at the moment they have been linked with a different player someone we have lost in Ben White,” Radebe told BBC Radio 5 Live. “I think he was outstanding.

“Him and Liam Cooper at the back they were absolutely brilliant. I think having to fortify that department into the team. I mean we have got Koch. I think that will be very important.”

It’s quite clear that Leeds United’s wishes of wanting to re-sign White have now gone out of the window, even though they had several bids turned down [Guardian].

But it remains to be seen whether Bielsa will add another centre-back to his books because he doesn’t exactly have depth in quality.

However, the eagle-eyed and highly-demanding coach likes to work with a small squad, so it will be interesting to see how they fare in that department upon their return to the promised land.
