Leeds United are reportedly interested in the goalscoring sensation that is Ivan Toney.
According to TEAMtalk, the Elland Road club are ‘keeping tabs’ on the in-form Brentford marksman.
So far this season, Toney has netted 25 goals for the Championship club and Thomas Frank’s side are only three points off an automatic promotion spot.
If the Bees keep Toney scoring for the next 11 games, there’s every chance that the 24-year-old is going to fire them into the Premier League.
Leeds could probably do with strong competition for Patrick Bamford next term because there isn’t much alternative to him right now as far as number nines go, in Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.
But former Whites striker Whelan has told BBC Radio Leeds that a move to West Yorkshire just isn’t going to materialise for Toney if his club wins promotion to the top flight.
He said: “If Brentford get to the Premier League there is no way they are selling him. They will not be that team again. The reason they sell a lot of players is, once you do not get into the Premier League, they have got to offload. If they get to the Premier League, there is no way they will be letting him go.”

Promotion is worth an absolute fortune to Brentford and they won’t feel the same pressure to sell to a bigger club, as much as they would if that same club enquires while they’re in the Championship.
