Dion Dublin has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur’s reported plan to sign Joe Hart is a ‘very clever’ one on BBC Radio Five Live’s Monday Night Club, which was broadcast on 17th August at 7pm.

The BBC suggest that Hart’s move to Spurs should be completed sooner rather than later.

Hart is currently a free agent following his release from Burnley, and Dublin believes Tottenham have been smart to snap him up.

“Joe is so confident in his own ability that he will be thinking ‘I’m happy to play number two at somewhere like Spurs, knowing that if I get my chance I can hold down the number one journey’.

“I think it’s a brilliant signing from Spurs, it’s very clever. I think for Spurs that is good business, knowing that you have Hart on the bench, that is a good second keeper.”

Hart certainly should bring experience and leadership to Tottenham’s team if he does arrive, as expected.

The 33-year-old is a Premier League winner, and was England’s number one for multiple years.

Hart’s first battle at Tottenham could be to actually make himself second choice at the North London club.

Paulo Gazzaniga has provided fairly reliable cover to Hugo Lloris in recent years, and it may be that Hart actually arrives as third choice, if he does sign.
