Jermaine Jenas told BBC Sport that Tottenham ‘aren’t going away’ in terms of being a top club in Europe.

The former midfielder highlighted how Daniel Levy, with the big-money move to Tottenham’s new stadium, has managed to lure in someone like Jose Mourinho to the club.

Added with that, Jenas also pointed out that Spurs have been linked with the highly-rated RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann, 33, if things go sour with their current boss, as previously reported by the Telegraph.

It’s been nearly 20 years since Levy took the hot seat in North London and became this tough and seemingly marmite-like figure in the game.

Despite Tottenham’s struggles, Jenas claimed that his former side are still seen as a ‘top club in Europe’.

“Daniel comes under a lot of pressure but what he is creating is just top,” said Jenas.

“They aren’t going away. You don’t build that (Stadium etc..) for it to go away.

“There is no doubt they need trophies but would you get Mourinho if you didn’t have that stadium?

“Would they be linked with Julian Nagelsmann, one of Europe’s most up-and-coming managers? Tottenham are looked at as a top club in Europe.”

Trophies is the name of the game now for Spurs now and only one man is being looked at and that’s their trophy-laden coach.

Whether Mourinho rubs up people the wrong way or not, he gets the job done and delivers the trophy.

It’s proving to be that bit difficult in this job, but he is now only 90 minutes away against Manchester City to help clinch that League Cup title for the club.
