Barry Ferguson has claimed that he can definitely see Roy Keane winding up with the Celtic job next season and beyond.
The Hoops are on the search for their next manager after Neil Lennon quit his post at Parkhead in February.
Lennon’s resignation came weeks before Rangers steamrollered Celtic to the Premiership title, with the Gers boasting a 20-point lead over their Old Firm rivals as we speak.
The Bhoys need to get their replacement spot-on to prevent their neighbours from enjoying the same sort of success as Brendan Rodgers enjoyed from 2016 onwards.
Keane is one of the most interesting figures reportedly vying for the job and The Scottish Sun reported earlier this month that he’s up for the challenge, despite being out of management for a decade.
And Rangers legend Ferguson has told Go Radio that he can now see the Irishman – who won seven league titles at Manchester United and another at Celtic in 2006 – replacing Lennon.
He said: “If you’d asked me when Neil Lennon left I would have probably said no chance, but as the weeks go on it’s looking more likely. There is a real possibility that it could be Roy Keane.”
Even Rangers fans might admit a certain intrigue to see Keane at Celtic.
After all, their manager is, of course, Steven Gerrard and it would be fascinating to see two legendary midfielders become rivals on the touchline as they once were on the field.
