James McFadden thinks that a two-striker formation could be perfect for Celtic as Odsonne Edouard gets ‘special treatment’ from defenders.
Speaking to BBC Sport, McFadden said that he believes Edouard faces a difficult task currently, as oppositon teams focus a lot of attention on him.
However, Albian Ajeti joined Celtic from West Ham United last week, and he is set to be in the Bhoys’ squad for their Champions League qualifier tonight.
And although the Swiss international is not expected to start tonight, McFadden thinks that Edouard should really benefit from his arrival in time.
“Edouard’s a terrific player and because of that he gets special treatment,” he said.
“Sometimes it’s two or three men marshalling him, so to bring another striker in brings another problem for a defence. I think Neil Lennon would always prefer to play with two strikers.”
If Ajeti does help Edouard become even more of a potent force then that should be considered a scary thought for the rest of Scotland.
Edouard has scored prolifically at Celtic, and already has a hat-trick to his name in the new campaign.
Edouard has led the line on his own so far this campaign, but Celtic had great success in a 3-5-2 shape last season, and they could change back to that system now Ajeti has been signed.
