Andy Halliday has told the Scottish Football Podcast that reported Leeds United target Ryan Kent would be a ‘bigger loss’ to Rangers than his teammate, Alfredo Morelos.
During these past few seasons, no-one would have argued that Morelos was the main guy at Ibrox, but that’s not the case now with his dip in form and Kent’s continual rise.
Steven Gerrard openly admitted that the Glasgow club have rejected a bid from Leeds for Kent’s services, as he issued a ‘hands-off’ warning to the Yorkshire club, as he told Sky Sports.
But Kent isn’t the only one attracting interest from elsewhere because Morelos has been linked with a move to Lille for some while, as the £17 million rated man’s future is still up in the air [Herald Scotland].
Boyhood Rangers fan and former player, Halliday, shared his thoughts on Kent and thinks he is now more important than Morelos.
“I cannot speak highly enough of Ryan Kent,” Halliday told BBC’s Scottish Football Podcast. “He is probably, we have spoken about Alfredo Morelos being a match-winner, but Ryan Kent is the one I feel who can change a game. One dribble or one move.
“He is someone who has been outstanding, especially in his first season. The only thing that I wanted more from Kent was his numbers. I think if you are an attacker in a Rangers team that’s dominating games then I am expecting at least 10-15 goals.
“He has now got off to a great start with three in five. I agree I think he would be a bigger loss to the Rangers team now [than Alfredo Morelos]. If Ryan Kent does end up leaving, the fee has been talked around the £15 million mark, then Rangers have to spend it.”

The one advantage Leeds have in this Kent chase is that they have the financial power to lure him away from Scotland’s top-flight.
Even if Rangers want to keep hold of him, if the newly-promoted Premier League side put a tempting offer on the table then the Gers may have to sell.
But that in itself would be a risk for Gerrard because he cannot afford to lose such a key player when he is trying to stop ten-in-a-row.
