Kieran Dyer has claimed that only Allan Saint-Maximin is ‘safe’ from being sold if Newcastle United are taken over by wealthy and ambitious owners, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

There has been a lot of talk regarding Newcastle’s ownership for a number of years now, but it could be argued that during recent months it has been the closest it has ever been to being completed. But that could be false hope.

The Express recently reported that Newcastle have been ‘purchased’, with rumours regarding a Saudi-based consortium taking charge swirling around left, right and centre for a long while now.

Whilst the St James’ Park faithful wait for official conformation, they have been enjoying the qualities of the unpredictable, Saint-Maximin, who Dyer praised.

“I was saying if the takeover does happen and they are going to give it a right good go,” Dyer told BBC Radio Live.

“He is probably the only player who could say that he’s safe [from being sold] and that’s testament to him and the season he has had.”

Over the years, the Newcastle fans haven’t been treated to great success or much ambition when it comes to purchasing players.

But the arrival of Saint-Maximin last summer has been one of their better purchases and a player who is well-liked by the fans.

If Newcastle’s long-awaited takeover is completed then given someone like Saint-Maximin’s qualities, he would no doubt fit into a team that will be expected to spend big and be adventurous given his style of play.
