Pat Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live (18/10/20 at 2:30 pm) that only Lionel Messi could attempt and execute the type of technique Mo Salah used for his goal for Liverpool over the weekend.
Amongst all the drama involving Virgil van Dijk and that late offside call, Salah netted a quite spectacular effort during Liverpool’s action-packed and controversial 2-2 draw with Everton.
Without any backlift, Salah hit Yerry Mina’s poor clearance first time into the bottom corner despite having very little time to react.
Former Chelsea winger, Nevin was truly wowed by what Salah did and thinks only Barcelona’s main man could so such a thing.
“I don’t know any other players who can do that,” Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live. “The way it came to him and the pace it came to him. Everybody else takes a touch there.
“That’s the natural thing. You take a touch. Who actually gets it on target? Time and again, you see Mo Salah doing this. We almost take it for granted now. He has these technical finishes sometimes. And you think ‘oh, that’s a good call’ and you look at it closely technically then you think ‘that is absolutely brilliant’
“I just don’t know anyone else who would do that. I would argue Messi would. But apart from that who would think of that. Get your feet in that position that quickly and have that accuracy. It’s unbelievable and it’s world, world-class.”

Amazingly, Salah has scored similar types of goals this season – both against Leeds United and Aston Villa.
The one against Leeds, a loose ball fell into the area, but this time he took a touch and powered into the top corner.
Against Villa, even though he had little room to react, he still managed to take a touch and do what he does best which is put the ball into the bottom corner.
But amid the drama that has surrounded the Merseyside derby from Saturday, it seems Salah’s quite brilliant striker has gone unnoticed slightly.
