Well, Leeds United slumped to another defeat today.

The Whites suffered a 1-0 loss away to Leicester City on the first game of the post-Marcelo Bielsa era.

Jesse Marsch is Leeds boss these days after replacing the legendary Argentine a little earlier in the week.

And although it wasn’t hammering, like the last few results of Bielsa’s reign, dropping more points does nothing for the Whites’ relegation battle.

Some good news did come in the form of Patrick Bamford, who was named on the bench for the first time after suffering another injury in December.

But even when Leeds needed a goal, Marsch introduced Tyler Roberts instead of Bamford, who didn’t make his return.

Seventeen Premier League goals last season means that the 28-year-old is United’s biggest goal threat by a thousand miles.

And former Leeds man Neil Aspin says that the Americna manager made a mistake by not using Bamford instead of the Wales international on 78 minutes.

He said to BBC Radio Leeds: “Me personally I wouldn’t have brought him on. Patrick Bamford must be fit. There’s only 15 minutes left, he’s on the bench and obviously done a lot of training. He’s passed a fitness test so I’d bring him on.”

Correct decision

Honestly, Marsch probably made the right decision.

What would the reaction have been had he subbed on Bamford and he got injured?

Marsch rightly would’ve been absolutely slaughtered for being shortsighted – and correctly so because throwing the dice on Leeds’ Premier League status by trying to salvage a point at Leicester would’ve been insanity.

The Elland Road outfit have much bigger games on the horizon and Marsch was thinking ahead of them.
