Michael Brown has told BBC Radio 5 Live that he would be a ‘little bit disappointed’ with Jose Mourinho’s comments following Tottenham’s Europa League defeat to Royal Antwerp on Thursday.
In typical Mourinho style, he didn’t hold back in making his feelings clear about the performance his Spurs players put in against Antwerp [BBC Sport].
During that game in Belgium, Mourinho made four substitutions during the half-time break, as the North London club looked off the pace, second to most balls and devoid of any ideas.
A lot was made of how fiery Mourinho was on social media and in his press conferences after the match, as former Spurs man Brown shared how he would have felt if he was in that changing room.
“Jose Mourinho is going to be questioned until he gets results and things over the line at Spurs,” said Brown. “Mourinho actually said ‘enough is enough with the documentary’. He was glad to see it go. He’s going to control his own show for everybody to see.
“It’s one of those. He has got to be sensible where he can. The result isn’t great. The question was as a player, he’s putting out there for me ‘well everybody back in training I am disappointed that’s why I don’t pick you in other games’.
“That’s where he is questioning a lot of senior players in there. Really, really good players. I would be a little bit disappointed with those comments.”

Whilst some may not like Mourinho’s forthright style, it’s that type of man-management which has seen him win trophy after trophy.
And it’s exactly what Tottenham need.
Tottenham’s strongest XI has been delivering the goods in the Premier League, it’s just a case of the back-up players not stepping up.
Plus, someone like Tanguy Ndombele should be an example of a player who was closer to the exit door at the start of the year and now he’s perhaps one of the first names on the teamsheet.
