It was another frustrating affair for Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night.
This one step forward and two backwards routine under Antonio Conte seems to be continuing.
Tottenham were dumped out of the FA Cup after losing 1-0 to Middlesbrough after extra time last night.
Chris Wilder has Boro looking relatively strong but even still, this is a Championship side and for a Spurs outfit with designs on Champions League qualification, this should’ve been a straightforward victory for the visitors.
It was a difficult night for Harry Kane, who had a goal chalked off for offside.
However, for the most part, nothing seemed to be working for the 28-year-old hitman.
And Danny Murphy has told BBC Radio 5 Live that it looked as if Kane was getting ‘frustrated’ with his teammates last night.
He said: “A couple of times Harry Kane has got frustrated with the early ball not being put in.”
Puzzling
After beating Manchester City 3-2 last month, the Lilywhites followed it up with a 1-0 defeat at Burnley.
Under the Italian manager, Tottenham are winning games they should definitely lose and losing the encounters that certainly should be won.
It’s a puzzling dilemma and no doubt Conte will be tearing his hair out trying to understand the mechanics behind Spurs’ form.
On a positive note, Premier League football is all Tottenham have left this season and being eliminated by Boro might help Conte and his players focus on finishing in the top four come May.
