Micah Richards has told BBC Sport that he thinks Daniel Sturridge, who Liverpool let go last year, is still good enough to play for Manchester City.
Liverpool decided against renewing Sturridge’s contract back in 2019, after he failed to make much of an impact towards the back end of his time at Anfield.
The former England international has since gone on to play in Turkey with Trabzonspor.
But Richards feels that plenty of Premier League sides could do with a player of Sturridge’s quality in their team, including Manchester City.
“When he plays football again it might be with another team abroad, but I can’t help but think that there are several clubs in the Premier League who are missing a trick by not signing him,” Richards said.
“I would include City in that, just to fill in while Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus are injured. Even if he was half-fit, he would score goals in that side.”
If Sturridge was to re-join City he would, of course, be brought straight back into competition with Liverpool.

It seems unlikely that the Reds would be too concerned by that signing, as there have to be some doubts about Sturridge’s ability to perform at the very highest level now.
Liverpool will also feel that they have strengthened in attack since Sturridge’s departure.
Liverpool have moved to bring in Diogo Jota and Takumi Minamino in recent windows, which has added depth to Jurgen Klopp’s options going forward.
Jota, in particular, looks a fine addition – with the Portuguese forward scoring two goals in the Premier League already.
