Dion Dublin told BBC Radio 5 Live that Mohamed Elneny does those jobs that ‘nobody else wants to do’ for Arsenal.

The combative midfielder was praised for his performance on Sunday as Arsenal secured a valuable 1-0 win at Manchester United.

Last season, Elneny was out on loan and many felt that this summer he was going to head for the exit door once again because he seemingly had no future at the club.

But former Man United and Aston Villa striker Dublin shared how he is looking like a ‘different player’ under Mikel Arteta’s stewardship.

“Yes, he does look like a different player,” said Dublin. “Partey played well, don’t get me wrong, he was invited to the party and he contributed.

“But I think Elneny just stepped out of the shadows. He was very, very aggressive. Controlled in possession. He used the ball well and looked like the player who had the freedom to go and do his job.

“He was Man of the Match [against Manchester United]. I think Elneny does those jobs that nobody else wants to do. He will slide. He will make a tackle. He will put his head in.”

During the final minutes of Arsenal’s win at Old Trafford, Elneny perhaps summed up what he is all about and what Arteta wants his players to do.

He chased the ball all over the pitch and eventually forced Luke Shaw to lose possession, which summed up the never-say-die attitude he showed throughout the game.

Whilst Thomas Partey was the one making the headlines for transforming this Arsenal team from the middle of the park, it could be argued that Elneny outperformed the Ghana man on that day.
