Garth Crooks told BBC Sport that Emile Smith Rowe is ‘so keen to make a name for himself’ at Arsenal that he ends up ‘running himself into the ground’.
The former striker claimed that Smith Rowe caused Tottenham ‘untold problems’ on Sunday during Arsenal’s derby win.
Smith Rowe, alongside Kieran Tierney, were some of the standout performers for Mikel Arteta’s men.
And even though Crooks comes from the Tottenham side, even he understands the impact Smith Rowe is having on this Arsenal side.
“There is a young man in the Arsenal team so keen to make a name for himself he practically runs himself into the ground,” said Crooks.
“Emile Smith Rowe caused Spurs untold problems down their left-hand side along with his accomplice Kieran Tierney.
“Two of the youngest players on the pitch showing the greatest desire.”

It’s amazing to think that at the start of the season, Smith Rowe wasn’t even a regular starter for the Gunners even though they were looking for creativity.
But somehow, one way or another, the Arsenal academy product is now a regular in the team and he is thriving.
It’s pretty clear that the future lies in the feet of the likes of Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka, who could take that Arsenal shirt for years to come.
