Rob Green has told BBC Radio Five Live that Newcastle United target Wilfried Zaha looks frustrated playing for Crystal Palace.

The Daily Mail claim that Newcastle want to sign Zaha, if their takeover goes through.

The £60 million-rated Ivorian’s future (Daily Mail) at Palace looks uncertain, and their recent run of seven defeats in a row, will hardly help to convince him to stay at Selhurst Park.

Palace were beaten 2-0 by Wolves yesterday, and Green could not help but feel that the reported Newcastle target seemed dejected at times.

“Wilfried Zaha cuts a frustrated figure in this team,” Green said.

“He has such quality but is the main man and can be targeted at times.

“He loves playing for his hometown club, but on a footballing level, it must be so frustrating.”

Newcastle are marginally above Palace in the table, but teams may not be able to target him quite as much as they do in a Palace shirt.

Newcastle do have other attackers who can attract the attention of defenders, and a potential partnership between Allan Saint-Maximin and Zaha down either flank would have to be considered very exciting for the St. James’ Park crowd.

Zaha actually hasn’t enjoyed his most productive season at Palace this term, as he has only scored four goals and claimed five assists in 37 appearances.
