Garth Crooks has criticised Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah on BBC Sport.
The former Tottenham Hotspur forward has said that Salah only seems interested in becoming the top scorer of the Premier League this season.
Crooks believes that this is having a negative effect on the rest of the Liverpool players.
The BBC pundit made the comments about Salah following Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Southampton at Anfield in the Premier league at the weekend.
Crooks wrote on BBC Sport.: “Mohamed Salah only seems interested in the Golden Boot and I think that is having a negative effect on some of his teammates.”
Salah actually provided the assist for Sadio Mane’s goal, but there were occasions when the Egypt international forward went for glory instead of picking his teammates.
The 28-year-old – who cost Liverpool £34 million in transfer fees in 2017, according to BBC Sport – took four shots and two of them were on target and played two key passes.
Salah is arguably the only Liverpool player who has done consistently well this season.
True, the forward does go for glory more than others, but his record in front of goal is absolutely brilliant.
The former Chelsea man has scored 20 goals and provided four assists in the Premier League this season, and scored 19 goals and gave 10 assists in the league in 2019-20.
Salah is only one goal behind Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot.
