BBC pundit James McFadden has slated Liverpool for their comical defending for the goal they conceded at the hands of Craig Dawson, who doubled Wolves’ lead in an eventual 3-0 win.

It was well and truly a comedy of errors at the back from Jurgen Klopp’s side, as they struggled to clear their lines before the ex-West Ham defender walloped the ball into the back of the net.

Understandably, the pundit was critical of Liverpool, as their defending for the strike from Wolves defender Dawson deserved to be called out.

BBC pundit slates Liverpool defending as Dawson makes it 2-0

As things have been going from bad to worse for the Merseyside-based side, the last thing they needed is to gift the opposition a goal, or even two, as has been the case at the Molineux Stadium on Saturday.

BBC pundit James McFadden certainly realised that, as he was full of praise for Wolves, whilst being blunt about how poor Liverpool were at the back.

“It comes from the set up. Wide free-kick from the right-hand side, Liverpool have their line, Dawson makes a run off the back of the line. Wolves manage to keep the ball alive and it’s a brilliant finish from Dawson. It’s just a mess from Liverpool defending”, the pundit reacted, as quoted by BBC Sport.

Liverpool have to do the basics at the very least

While Wolves new-boy Craig Dawson finished the strike in true striker’s fashion by slamming the ball past Alisson Becker, Liverpool defended like sheer amateurs for the goal.

After competing at the highest level for a number of years, a drop-off in terms of mentality and performances is natural.

But that does not excuse the Reds from being so habitually shambolic at the back, and making life easy for sides far less talented than them on a weekly basis.
