Celtic defeated Rangers 5-1 at Celtic Park.

Former striker Steven Thompson says Celtic’s 5-1 win over their rivals Rangers was an embarrassment for the visitors and adds that questions will be asked of Mark Warburton’s men, the BBC report.
In what was expected to mark a special occasion for Rangers as they played out their first league encounter with Celtic since their demotion to the fourth tier of Scottish football, it soon turned into a nightmare.
The Gers never really got going and slack defending allowed the Hoops to race into a two-goal lead via striker Moussa Dembele, before Joe Garner managed to pull one back on the stroke of half-time.

Many felt Rangers were handed a lifeline at the time, but in truth Celtic were still in control and Dembele, Scott Sinclair and Stuart Armstrong helped themselves to second-half goals to complete a rout.
Co-commentating for BBC Radio Five Live, Thompson blasted Rangers’ performance and especially their defence, while Gary Lineker took to Twitter to remark on the scoreline.
“It is no longer just a convincing performance from Celtic. It is an embarrassment for Rangers. Questions are going to be asked,” Thompson explained.
On Celtic’s first goal, he added: “How slack from Rangers. We talk about how well they have defended, making it difficult for Celtic to break them down. Then a simple corner into the box, and Dembele is left unmarked six yards out and he couldn’t miss. It is horrendous defending from Rangers, horrendous.”
Rangers looked ponderous in midfield, and both Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar looked well off the pace with the latter arguably lucky to stay on the pitch after committing numerous fouls.

Questions will be asked of Rangers’ defence, but nothing should be taken away from Celtic’s Dembele, who came in for the injured Leigh Griffiths and put in a man-of-the-match display.
With victory, Brendan Rodgers’ side move four points clear of the Gers at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a game in hand.
