Sunderland are in the mist of a mini-revival, with Victor Anichebe playing a key part in their resurgence.

Ex-Sunderland star Kevin Kilbane praised the impact made by Victor Anichebe on his former side, and backed the 28-year-old to go on to establish himself as a regular starter for the Black Cats, when speaking on the BBC’s programme Match of the Day 2 Extra.
Kilbane played with the Nigerian striker during his time at Everton, and explained how he has been thoroughly impressed by his performances since he arrived on Wearside.
Anichebe moved to the Stadium of Light on a fee transfer in September, and has gone on to prove many of his critics wrong with a succession of fine displays, scoring three goals in four Premier League outings.
And Kilbane raved about the striker’s talents when speaking on MOTD 2 Extra:
“It was an interesting signing when David Moyes signed him, because I thought if anyone is going to get a hold of him it’s David Moyes. He knows exactly how to handle him and he knows exactly how he is going to react to different situations. I’m delighted for Victor because I think Sunderland have a player there who is underestimated, who can go on now and really establish himself at Sunderland and create a really good partnership with Defoe.”

The Black Cats are now just three points adrift of safety, after back-to-back victories, and David Moyes’ side can now begin to look at their upcoming stretch of games with a sense of optimism rather than trepidation.
Sunderland face games against Liverpool, Leicester City and Chelsea in their next four outings, and despite the obvious challenges they will face during that period, they will be full of confidence, and if Achebe continues his fine run of form, they should not be afraid of playing anyone.
