A BBC pundit has just admitted that he’s said a ‘horrible thing’ about Leeds United’s relegation rivals.
Leeds slumped to a 4-0 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road this afternoon.
As a consequence, the Whites have now shipped 20 goals in their last five Premier League appearances.
Marcelo Bielsa’s outfit are only three points above the relegation zone, but 18th-placed Burnley have a whopping three games in hand.
There’s nobody worse in the Premier League than Leeds United right now
And Simon Walton, a former player of the West Yorkshire club, has claimed that although it isn’t nice to hope United’s relegation rivals are worse than them, that’s the reality.
He told BBC Radio Leeds: “We’re hoping and praying that there’s three teams worse than us! That’s the way it looks. Again, that’s a horrible thing to say but it has to be addressed.”
Are Leeds getting relegated?
Worryingly, it’s increasingly difficult to make an argument for them staying in the Premier League.
Bielsa’s defence is just abysmal right now and although they’re missing big players like Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper, success in the Premier League is about the size of your squad.
And honestly, United’s squad is looking depressingly thin if they cannot survive without three players, without being hammered by four and five and six goals every single week.
