Ciaran Clark will do well to get another game at Newcastle United under Eddie Howe.
Nine minutes into Newcastle’s biggest game of the season, the Republic of Ireland international picked up a straight red card.
Clark pulled back Teemu Pukki to stop him from galloping through on goal for Norwich City last night.
With United having not won any of their first 13 Premier League games this season, the visit of the Canaries was massive.
And for it to be spoiled within 10 minutes was, well, frustrating from a Newcastle perspective.
Nobody will have been more annoyed than Howe, the new manager.
And according to BBC journalist Alistair Magowan, the 43-year-old turned his back in disappointment once the red card came out.
Magowan said: “Eddie Howe turns around in absolute disbelief as Ciaran Clark gets sent off. What was the defender doing? Not many words between Clark and Howe as the centre-back walked off the pitch.”

The points were shared in the end.
Despite Clark’s exit, Newcastle actually went ahead in the second half when Callum Wilson scored from the penalty spot.
But it was too good to be true because Pukki equalised for City with nine minutes remaining.
Still, it was a brave effort by the Magpies and Howe will take that as a big positive, under the circumstances.
But really, this was viewed as the game for Newcastle to finally kick-start their season and for that reason, this is still gloomy.
