Bayern Munich reportedly have to sell players first before they consider signing Mason Mount, who the rumoured Newcastle United target might not even be on Thomas Tuchel’s transfer agenda.

According to journalist Christian Falk, the England international is yet to be internally discussed at Bayern as a potential summer signing, with reports coming out this week that the German giants are interested in recruiting the Chelsea playmaker following Tuchel’s arrival.

The former Blues manager was key in Mount’s development during their time together in west London, and a move for the 24-year-old from Bayern is hardly out of the question, though the Bavarian giants could face competition for the midfielder’s signature from the likes of Newcastle.

The Daily Mail reported that the Magpies, alongside Liverpool, are chasing Mount as Newcastle look to make a major impact in the transfer market this summer, with a playmaker exactly what Eddie Howe is looking for to take his side to the next level.

Indeed, Mount could be keen on a move to the northeast, yet with Bayern now in the race, there’s no denying that signing for the German giants would be more appealing than a switch to Newcastle, even if Tuchel must first allow some players to leave this summer.

Bayern are in a weird state having sacked Julian Nagelsmann in surprising fashion and brought in Tuchel just hours after the announcement, and a squad overhaul could be on the cards, with Mount a perfect creative signing for the German giants to make.

With money to spend and players in the squad who can do with leaving, Mount ticks a lot of boxes for what Bayern could want in the market, with the Tuchel factor an appealing factor for a player looking to change the direction of his career.
