Bayern Munich are reportedly looking at extending Jamal Musiala’s contract amid reports that Liverpool are interested in signing the Germany international.

According to Bild, the Bundesliga giants want to extend the teenager’s deal at the club following the attacking midfielder’s performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with Musiala shining for Germany despite the European titans crashing out at the group stage phase for a second competition in a row.

Despite being one of Bayern’s best players this season and one of the stars of the tournament for Germany, there’s a slight chance that Musiala could leave Bavaria in the coming months, with Sky Germany reporting that Liverpool are interested in the former Chelsea academy star.

Whilst the Reds would have to pull off a minor miracle to sign Musiala, the interest should be enough to spur Bayern into action to extend the wonderkid’s contract, even with the playmaker’s current deal set to expire in four years time in 2026.

Indeed, Bayern have usually been quite good at keeping key players and star talents to commit to new long-term deals, and Musiala should be no different for the Munich-based side, with the Liverpool target simply too good to be leaving the club at this stage of his career.

Whilst a return to England might one day happen given Musiala’s days in Chelsea’s academy, staying in Munich is easily the best decision the youngster could make right now. And Bayern working to extend the attacker’s contract should all but Liverpool’s hopes of signing the superstar talent.

Musiala feels like an archetypal wonderkid for Jurgen Klopp to get the best out of, with the Liverpool manager central to many of football’s best players becoming who they are due to his methods and style of coaching. Which is why missing out on the Germany talent would be such a blow for the Reds.

The Bayern star has everything needed to become one of the best players in the world in the coming years. Yet for Liverpool, it appears that the Merseyside club will miss out on Musiala amid new rumours that the Munich giants want to extend the youngster’s contract.
