Bayern Munich will reportedly back away from their interest in Marcus Thuram, with Newcastle United and Tottenham both keen on signing the Borussia Monchengladbach superstar.
According to Bild, the reigning Bundesliga champions have come to a conclusion that the 25-year-old striker is not a good fit for Bayern’s future plans, with the German giants favouring a forward like Harry Kane to lead the line next season.
As a result of Bayern dropping out of the race, the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham might have just been handed a huge boost in the race to sign Thuram, with the Athletic reporting that the Magpies are keen on the France international whilst 90min claim that Antonio Conte’s side are also in contention.
With 13 goals in all competitions and a spot in France’s 2022 FIFA World Cup squad, Thuram heads into the January window as one of football’s most in-demand talents, especially with the forward’s contract coming to an end in the summer.

Lauded as ‘world-class’ by Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schafer, Thuram could soon become the centre of a Premier League transfer battle with Bayern, arguably the favourites to land the forward at one point, no longer in contention for the attacker.
Indeed, Bayern’s stance to not chase Thuram will be seismic for the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham, with the English duo no doubt now confident in their January attempts to sign the attacker at a bargain price with the German giants out of the race.
Newcastle and Tottenham must do all they can to sign Thuram

Bayern dropping out of the picture opens up a huge opportunity for smaller clubs in Europe to try and sign Thuram, which is exactly what Newcastle and Tottenham must do in the coming weeks in the build-up to the January transfer window.
After all, the forward is in the best form of his career. And with Gladbach keen to offload Thuram in January rather than lose the Frenchman on a free, Newcastle or Tottenham could land a serious bargain in the winter market in the Bundesliga star.
