Tottenham believe they need further cover for Harry Kane and their wide options and will move to strengthen in January. But a new report by Sky Germany may scupper any efforts Spurs director Fabio Paratici makes to acquire Choupo-Moting from the Bundesliga giants.

Choupo-Moting may now rule himself out of a January transfer to Tottenham
Tottenham have mulled a mid-season transfer for Choupo-Moting as the forward is out of contract at Bayern Munich in June. Der FCB are additionally yet to open any talks with the 73-cap Cameroon star’s agent over extending his deal at the Allianz Arena past the season.
Any discussions over his future in Bavaria will prove to be a long-drawn drama, as well. The attacker is determined to continue his run as a starting option having stepped up following Robert Lewandowski leaving the German side in a £42.5m switch to FC Barcelona this July.

Sky Germany states that ‘Choupo-Moting no longer wants to be a backup’ after striking 11 goals in 16 games this season. Of his haul, six goals and two assists have come during 10 Bundesliga games. He also hit three goals in four Champions League group stage games.
Thus, the former Stoke City star will no longer accept being another forward’s understudy. So, Bayern Munich will have to present the Hamburg native with a proposal to start if he is to sign a new contract. But his stance may also now see a move to Tottenham fall through.

The Bayern Munich ace would have to accept being a backup at Spurs
Choupo-Moting would likely have to accept being a backup at Tottenham to seal a transfer from Bayern Munich. While he has produced a prolific record for Der FCB this term and hit once over three appearances at the World Cup in Qatar, he would not start ahead of Kane.
The England captain flew to Qatar on the back of scoring 12 goals over 15 Premier League games with one assist. Kane also hit once and created a further two goals in six Champions League games. So, Choupo-Moting would be relying on injuries to secure a starting berth.
Even if Bayern Munich and Germany winger Serge Gnabry has dubbed Choupo-Moting ‘the best target man in the world’, via Bundesliga.com. So, even if Conte is set on Spurs signing a forward in January, Choupo-Moting might rule himself out of any transfer to Tottenham.
