Bayern Munich have reportedly dropped out of the race to sign Atletico Madrid superstar Joao Felix, news that will be music to Arsenal’s ears ahead of the January transfer window.
According to AS, the Bundesliga giants have pulled out of the race for the Portuguese international, with Arsenal now set to battle Manchester United and PSG for Felix’s signature, who Mikel Arteta is seemingly keen on bringing to the Emirates Stadium next year.
With a price tag of £120m, Atletico are eager to land a major sale in January in offloading Felix, who was exceptional for Portugal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, despite the attacker’s sparkling form, Bayern have still pulled out of the race to sign the 23-year-old.
Felix’s international form has been great this month, but, that still doesn’t take away the fact that the forward has been largely unspectacular for Atletico for the past year, something that could make many interested clubs cautious about spending big on the youngster, including Arsenal.

Indeed, whilst the north London club could be interested in signing Felix and have the funds to make such a deal possible, there’s no telling just how good a fit the attacker will actually be for Arteta, especially with Gabriel Jesus returning from injury in a few months time.
Whilst Bayern dropping out of the race will theoretically make it easier for Arsenal to sign Felix, there still needs to be full confidence from the club and the coaching staff that the 23-year-old is the right fit for the Gunners, something many fans would currently disagree on.
Arsenal should drop out with Bayern in race to sign Felix

Arsenal’s need for a versatile attacker in January is evident for many supporters to see. And whilst Felix might fit this criteria, the north London club could find both a cheaper and better alternative to the Atletico star, who could win a move in January due to recency bias.
After all, Felix has been poor for Atletico for many months now, and whilst leaving Spain might be what kickstarts the attacker’s career, Arsenal will be wise to avoid the Portuguese international given his price tag and Arteta’s need for a more wider forward.
