Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Kalvin Phillips but Bayern Munich could lure him to play alongside Harry Kane.

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is attracting major interest ahead of the January transfer window.

That is according to 90Min, who claim that Bayern have now made contact with Manchester City over a deal for Phillips.

Phillips started for England against Italy on Tuesday night but looked noticeably off the pace for large spells of the game.

There are real concerns that Phillips will struggle to shine for England whilst he continues to be on the fringes at Manchester City.

Phillips needs regular playing time and that means a January move away may well be in the offing…

Bayern Munich to rival Tottenham Hotspur for Kalvin Phillips

90Min now report that Bayern Munich are already making moves for Phillips well in advance of January.

Thomas Tuchel is desperate to land another holding midfield player and seemingly believes that Phillips could be the man for Bayern after missing out on Joao Palhinha.

Bayern do face major Premier League competition though with Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United all keen.

It’s stated that Phillips had been told that he was free to leave City over the summer, just a year since a £45million move from Leeds United.

Phillips chose to stay put but is now attracting major interest with Tottenham keen and potentially facing a battle with Harry Kane’s Bayern.

Phillips simply has to leave Manchester City

Phillips admirably believed that he could battle through a difficult first season and become a key man under Pep Guardiola.

That’s what Jack Grealish did but Phillips hasn’t done the same, unable to even come close to Rodri at the back of City’s midfield.

The writing seems to be on the wall with Phillips not even called upon to start against Arsenal when Rodri was unavailable.

A move to join Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham revolution may well be appealing, or maybe Phillips fancies joining forces with England teammate Kane in Germany.

No matter what his preferred move is, Phillips needs to play in order to hit top form ahead of Euro 2024 – and that just isn’t going to happen at City.
