Bayern Munich are reportedly keeping tabs on Gavi’s ongoing contract situation with FC Barcelona, with Manchester City interested in signing the Spanish wonderkid.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Bavarian giants have held an interest in signing the teenage midfielder for quite some time, with Gavi currently set to leave Barcelona for free due to an ongoing contract dispute between the club and La Liga.

Even with a reported release clause of €1bn (£875m) as per Eurosport, Gavi could realistically depart Catalonia for nothing if Barcelona fail to resolve the midfielder’s contract, which could open the door for Bayern to sign the prodigy amid competition from City.

The Times report that Pep Guardiola’s side, as well as Liverpool, are also keeping a close eye on what happens to Gavi this summer, with the teenager leaving the Camp Nou bound to trigger a stampede of clubs looking to sign the Barcelona superstar.

As we know, Gavi is one of the most promising talents in world football and a player that every top side in Europe will want to have on their books, and for City, losing out on the 18-year-old would be a massive blow, especially with Ilkay Gundogan also set to leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of this season.

The Spanish international is simply too good a player to miss out on, and with each passing day one step closer to Gavi, incredibly, leaving Barcelona for nothing, City have to ensure they are the club that lands the 18-year-old in the summer in what could be one of the deals of the century.
